1.21. Launch of the engine from an external source of current

1. Check the auxiliary battery.
2. Install the car with the charged battery as it is possible closer to the car that rechargeable batteries were near practically, but at the same time do not assume that cars adjoined.
3. Switch off everything minor consumers of current.
4. Turn off traffic jams of cans of both batteries and put rags on open batteries (except batteries which do not demand maintenance).

Fig. 1.38. The sequence of connection of wires at launch of the engine by means of the battery - "donor": and – the discharged battery; b – auxiliary battery; 1 – positive plug of the auxiliary battery; 2 – the positive plug of the discharged battery;
3 – negative plug of the auxiliary battery; 4 – "mass" stationary metal point

5. At first connect one end of a cable to the positive plug of the discharged battery, then the second end of the same cable to the positive plug of the battery - "donor" (fig. 1.38). Further connect one end of the second wire to the negative plug of the auxiliary battery, and then the second end – to a "mass" stationary metal point (for example, to an engine support). Do not connect a wire from the negative plug of the auxiliary battery to the negative plug of the discharged battery.
6. Launch the engine of the auxiliary car with the increased frequency of rotation of a bent shaft that the generator began to develop tension.
7. If the engine was not launched at once, give time to cool down to a starter. Then launch the engine of the auxiliary car which will a little charge the discharged rechargeable battery.
8. At removal of auxiliary wires disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the charged auxiliary rechargeable battery in the beginning.
