All models are equipped with the rack steering including a steering wheel, a steering column, an intermediate shaft, the steering mechanism, steering drafts and rotary fists (fig. 11.14).

Steering with the amplifier also turns on the pump with the belt drive for creation of hydraulic pressure. In steering without amplifier the movement from turn of a steering wheel is transmitted through a steering column and an intermediate shaft to a shaft of a gear wheel of the steering mechanism. Teeths on a shaft of a gear wheel are connected to lath teeths so that at turn of a shaft the lath moves to the left or to the right in a case of the steering mechanism. Steering drafts which, in turn, fasten to rotary fists on forward wheels are attached to each end of a lath. Thus, force of the movement of a lath is directly to the right and to the left that force which turns wheels.
For reduction of the effort enclosed to a steering wheel for its turn to cars the hydraulic amplifier of steering is installed. As additional force the working liquid which is under high pressure which moves in the working cylinders located on the steering mechanism is used. The distributive valve serves for forcing in the power cylinder of liquid under pressure which corresponds to an angle of rotation of a steering wheel. Distributive valves work according to the so-called principle of the open center i.e. when the distributive valve does not operate, the liquid given by the pump is bypassed back in a tank with a zero pressure. Pressure in hydraulic system is created by the pump put in action by a belt from a pulley of a bent shaft of the engine.
The power absorbing steering column in case of head-on collision develops for reduction of probability of getting injured by the driver. The steering column also turns on the ignition switch with blocking of a steering shaft, the warning buzzer and switches of turn, light of headlights and screen wipers of a windshield. Because of features of a design (developing) a steering column important that only special screws, bolts and nuts which have to be tightened by the required moments were used.
In addition to a standard steering column installation of a column with an adjustable tilt angle is possible.

Steering wheel
For removal and installation execute the following operations.
Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the rechargeable battery.
Remove the button of a sound signal, a decorative plate and disconnect the socket from the switch of a sound signal.
Turn off a nut of fastening of a steering wheel and establish forward wheels in provision of the rectilinear movement.

PREVENTION
You do not knock on an end face of a steering shaft at all.

Mark the provision of a steering wheel of rather steering shaft and a stripper remove a steering wheel.
Installation is carried out to the sequences, the return to removal, taking into account the following.
Before installation of a steering wheel apply a thin film of Moly lubricant on the sliding contact of a sound signal.
At installation of a steering wheel combine the tags put before its removal.

Steering column
For removal and installation execute the following.
Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the rechargeable battery.
Remove a steering wheel.
Remove a casing of a steering column and disconnect contact sockets of a plait of wires.
Remove a heater fan air duct.
Remove the combined switch.
Turn out lock nuts and bolts of fastening of a steering column, and also a coupling bolt of an intermediate shaft.
Disconnect a steering column from an intermediate shaft and accurately remove it from the car.
As the steering column developing it is easy to damage it after removal from the car. Be attentive – do not lean against a column and do not drop it as it can weaken a design of a column and worsen its work.
If the car had an accident as a result of which the frame is damaged, or the body strongly suffered, or the steering column is damaged, the last needs to be handed over for survey to the skilled mechanic.
Installation is carried out to the sequences, the return to removal.

Tip of steering draft
For removal and installation execute the following operations.
Lift a forward part of the car and reliably fix on supports.
Remove a forward wheel.

Remove the forelock and on several turns turn off a nut of fastening of the spherical hinge of a tip of steering thirst for a rotary fist (fig. 11.15). A stripper squeeze out a pin of the spherical hinge of a tip of steering draft from a rotary fist. Completely turn off самоконтрящуюся a nut and take out a pin of the spherical hinge of a tip of steering draft from a rotary fist.

Note the provision of a lock-nut on a carving of steering draft in order that in the subsequent to establish a tip of steering draft in a starting position (fig. 11.16).
Turn off on several turns a lock-nut on steering draft.

Check a cover of a tip of steering draft for existence of gaps or leak of lubricant. For replacement of a cover clamp a tip of steering draft in a vice and accurately bring down him the hammer and a flat chisel (fig. 11.17). Be careful not to damage the surface of consolidation. Apply in a new cover a little lubricant on a lithium basis and establish a cover on a tip of steering draft. Napressuyte a cover on a tip of steering draft by means of a vice and a mandrel of the corresponding size or a press and the special tool 491243785 (fig. 11.18).
Rotating a lock-nut, screw it to earlier put tag on steering draft. Screw a tip of steering draft on steering draft before contact with a lock-nut.
Establish a pin of the spherical hinge of a tip of steering draft in a rotary fist. Screw a nut of fastening of the spherical hinge of a tip of steering thirst for a rotary fist and tighten it the required moment.
Tighten a lock-nut.
Establish a forward wheel and lower the car on the earth. Tighten nuts of fastening of a wheel.
Check the angles of installation of forward wheels.

Protective cover of the steering mechanism
The protective cover of the steering mechanism provides protection of details against dirt and water. It needs to be checked periodically for existence of openings, cracks and other damages, and also for wear. Immediately replace the damaged covers for prevention of serious damage of the steering mechanism. For this purpose execute the following.
Remove a tip of steering draft.
Turn off a lock-nut from steering draft.
Remove collars of fastening of a protective cover.
Remove a protective cover of the steering mechanism from steering draft.
Clear the coming-out part of a lath of dirt. Grease a lath with lubricant and add several drops in a new cover.
Establish a new cover so that the bigger diameter of a cover was over a lath and a case of the steering mechanism.
Fix a cover by new collars.
Screw a lock-nut and a tip of steering draft.

Removal and installation of the steering mechanism
Turn out a coupling bolt which fixes an intermediate shaft to a gear wheel of a lath of the steering mechanism.
Lift a forward part of the car, reliably fix on supports and remove both forward wheels.

Remove forelocks, turn off nuts and separate tips of steering drafts from rotary fists (fig. 11.19).
On the models equipped with the amplifier of steering disconnect the socket from the switch, disconnect pipelines and wrap up them rags for collecting the following liquid.
Turn out bolts and remove the steering mechanism through the left niche of a wheel.
If repair of the steering mechanism is required, several options of further actions are possible. It is possible to buy the new steering mechanism and to install it assembled, but it is the most expensive option. It is possible to take the removed steering mechanism to repare on car repair shop. One more option – carrying out repair by own efforts, though it and the difficult operation demanding application of a press.

Basic elements of the steering mechanism are shown in fig. 11.20, 11.21.
Installation is carried out to the sequences, the return to removal. If the model is equipped by the amplifier of steering, after its installation add liquid to a tank and remove air from system.
On all models in conclusion check the angles of installation of forward wheels and in case of need adjust them.

Pump of the amplifier of steering
Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the rechargeable battery.
Lift a forward part of the car, reliably fix on supports and remove the right forward wheel and a mudguard.

Turn off a nut of fastening of a pulley of the pump of the amplifier of steering (fig. 11.22).
Remove the generator and a driving belt. On models with the conditioner remove also driving compressor belt of the conditioner.
Remove a pump pulley.
Disconnect and close traffic jams pipelines of the amplifier of steering.
Turn out four bolts of fastening of an arm of the generator/pump of the amplifier of steering and remove from the engine the pump together with an arm.
Installation is carried out to the sequences, the return to removal.
After installation adjust a tension of a driving belt, fill a pump tank with liquid and remove air from the hydraulic drive.

Removal of air from the hydraulic drive of the amplifier of steering
After any operations when which performing pipelines of the amplifier of steering were disconnected it is necessary to remove air from system of the amplifier of steering.
Lift a forward part of the car and reliably fix on supports.
Several times turn forward wheels from an emphasis against the stop. Check liquid level in a tank of the amplifier of steering and if it went down, add liquid. Repeat this work until liquid level on the measuring probe does not cease to go down.
Launch the engine and let's it work in the mode of the accelerated idling. Repeatedly check the level of liquid and add it in case of need.
Remove air from system, turning wheels to the right-to the left without stopping. Be attentive not to pump over system at an empty tank.
When air is removed from system, establish wheels in situation for the movement directly and let's work to the engine some more minutes before its stop.
Execute a trial trip to be convinced that the system of steering functions in the usual mode and during its work there are no noise.
Again check the liquid level which at the engine which is warmed up up to the normal working temperature has to be about the top tag on the measuring probe, and add liquid in case of need.
