15.7. Coupling

Part of cars since 1986 of release is equipped with coupling with the hydraulic drive. The system of the hydraulic drive of coupling consists of a pedal, the main cylinder with a tank, the pipeline, the working cylinder which puts in action a coupling switching off fork, and the coupling switching off bearing.
Previously it is necessary to execute checks to find out the reasons of malfunctions in system of the hydraulic drive of coupling. At first it is necessary to check the level of working liquid in a tank. At reduction of level add liquid and visually check existence of leaks on all highway of system. For check of completeness of switching off of coupling measure a full speed of a rod of the working cylinder. When pressing a coupling pedal the rod has to come to all length.

Height of installation of a pedal of coupling
Measure distance from a body floor to a surface of an overlay of a pedal of coupling.

If the result does not correspond to the required value, weaken a lock-nut of the limiter of the course of a pedal and rotate a bolt of the limiter (fig. 15.67) until the pedal is not established in required position (on cars of later release the bolt of the limiter can be combined with the switch on a coupling pedal).
Tighten a lock-nut.

Free wheeling and height of the pressed coupling pedal
Hand press a pedal and measure a free wheeling (distance from a starting position before emergence of noticeable resistance to the pedal course).
If the result does not correspond to demanded, weaken a lock-nut of a rod of the main cylinder of coupling and rotate a rod before receiving the required free wheeling.
Check height of completely pressed coupling pedal (height of full switching off of coupling).
Tighten a lock-nut.

Removal
Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the rechargeable battery.
On some cars can be required to remove a relay rack.
Disconnect a hydraulic actuator tube from the main cylinder of coupling. It is recommended to hold at an otvorachivaniye of the union a tube a cap key that will prevent its twisting together with the union. Previously substitute capacity or enclose rags as at a detachment of a tube working liquid can spill.

PREVENTION
Do not allow hit of brake fluid on a paint and varnish covering of the car, at its influence its gloss is lost.

Turn off nuts of fastening of the main cylinder to a wall of a motor compartment. One nut is on a wall of a motor compartment, and the second – under the dashboard on an arm of a pedal of a brake (fig. 15.68).
Carefully remove the cylinder from a rod and take out it through a wall of a motor compartment.
Installation
Carefully insert the cylinder through a wall of a motor compartment and insert a rod. Wrap nuts, having tightened them by hand.
Attach a tube of the hydraulic drive to the main cylinder of coupling, slightly manipulating the cylinder so that to screw the union on a tube in a carving opening in the cylinder. Do not damage a carving at an union vvorachivaniye.
Reliably tighten nuts of fastening and the union of a tube of the hydraulic drive.
Fill a tank of the drive of coupling with the brake fluid conforming to the DOT-3 standard, and remove air from the hydraulic drive.
Connect a wire to the negative plug of the rechargeable battery and check coupling work before a trip.

Working cylinder of coupling
Removal
Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the rechargeable battery.
Lift the car and fix on supports.
Disconnect a tube of the hydraulic drive from the working cylinder of coupling. It is recommended to hold at an otvorachivaniye of the union a tube a cap key to prevent twisting of a tube together with the union. Previously substitute capacity or enclose rags as at a detachment of a tube working liquid can spill.

Turn off bolts of fastening of the working cylinder of coupling and remove its (fig. 15.69).
Installation
Install the working cylinder on a case of coupling and be convinced that the rod of the cylinder entered dredging of a fork of switching off of coupling, tighten fastening bolts.
Attach a tube of the hydraulic drive to the cylinder and tighten the union, trying not to damage a carving.
Fill a tank of the main cylinder of coupling with the brake fluid conforming to the DOT-3 standard.
Remove air from the hydraulic drive.
Connect a wire to the negative plug of the rechargeable battery and check coupling work before a trip.

Removal of air from the hydraulic drive of coupling (pumping)
Removal of air needs to be carried out at removal of any element of system of the hydraulic drive or at decrease in level of liquid at which air gets to the cylinder of coupling. Work is similar to removal of air from the brake system (pumping).
Fill a tank of the main cylinder of coupling with the fresh brake fluid conforming to the DOT-3 standard.

PREVENTION
During removal of air use being in the use is not allowed or it is long the liquid stored in an open container.

For access to the working cylinder lift the car and fix on supports.
Remove a dustproof cap from the union of removal of air and put on a piece of a plastic hose the union. Place the end of a hose in a pure vessel with the brake fluid poured to level about 5 cm. The end of a hose has to be shipped in liquid.
Ask the assistant to press a pedal of coupling and to hold it in the pressed situation. Unscrew the union of removal of air on the working cylinder that liquid flew down in a vessel. During an effluence of liquid wrap the union. After that ask the assistant to release a pedal.
Repeat this cycle until air is not completely removed from system what lack of bubbles in capacity for collecting liquid and in the liquid following through a hose testifies by each pressing a pedal to. You watch closely liquid level in the feeding tank. At excessive decrease in level in system air can be sucked in that will cause the necessity of repeated pumping.
Establish a dustproof cap and lower the car. Check coupling work.
