PREVENTION
On some models at adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition performance of work, the fulfilled gases specified on the information plate on decrease in toxicity is obligatory. The plate contains information on preliminary operations which need to be executed before adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition, and also necessary specifications.

Check and adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition
Execute the preliminary operations on installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition given on the plate of VECI located under a cowl.

About a pulley of a bent shaft there is a plate with the index which is intended for combination with it of an adjusting tag of a pulley. The tag of "T" corresponds to the top dead point (TDP). The plate of the index is supplied with a scale with a step 2 ° and an adjusting tag, the corresponding model of your car. In the absence of an adjusting tag count from a tag of "T" the required number of degrees to VMT aside as it is specified on the plate of VECI, and mark this situation on a plate. On some models of cars instead of a plate there is an index of a corner of an advancing of ignition and two dredging on a pulley instead of one (fig. 2.21). For installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition do not use dredging "top" (VMT).
In order that the tag on a pulley was well visible at adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition, designate it chalk or paint.
Launch the engine, warm up it up to the normal working temperature and stop. Disconnect everything electric consumers and disconnect the electric socket from the radiator fan.
At the switched-off ignition, being guided by the instruction of the manufacturer, connect the stroboscope socket to a high-voltage wire of a spark plug of the first cylinder.
Launch the engine, direct stroboscope light to a tag on a pulley of a bent shaft and define with what adjusting tag dredging on a pulley is combined.

If dredging is not combined with the required tag, weaken a bolt of fastening of the distributor of ignition and turn it until dredging is not combined with the required adjusting tag (fig. 2.22).
Tighten a bolt of fastening of the distributor of ignition and repeatedly check an ignition advancing corner.
Stop the engine and disconnect a stroboscope. Connect a wire of a spark plug of the first cylinder and other elements which were disconnected.

Survey and replacement of spark plugs
Stream of compressed air clear a candle that will exclude hit of dirt in the engine cylinder after a candle reversing.

PREVENTION
Manufacturers do not regulate an interval of replacement of spark plugs, only indicate the need of regular survey. In practice replacement of spark plugs needs to be made at maintenance even if candles in good shape.

Turn out a spark plug.
If replacement of spark plugs is necessary, it is necessary to apply only the spark plugs recommended for this engine.
On appearance of the turned-out spark plugs it is possible to estimate an engine condition approximately. Pure, white, without raid the insulator of spark plugs testifies to too poor fuel-air mix. Such appearance of a candle indicates also that a candle too hot (heat from the central electrode is taken away slowly). It is necessary to adjust composition of fuel-air mix or to replace a candle.
Adjournment of a dry soot is caused by too rich mix. If the raid black, oily, the engine is worn-out, it needs to be checked and repaired. If the insulator is covered with a light brown raid, then the composition of mix is optimum and the engine is in good shape.
Too big or too small interelectrode gap at which the spark size changes leads to decrease in overall performance of the engine. The gap always has to conform to technical requirements.
It is checked a wire template or the probe. It is possible to modify a gap a podgibaniye of a side electrode the special tool. The central electrode cannot be bent at all – it can lead to breakage of the insulator and an exit of a candle out of operation.
Before installation of a spark plug in the engine check that the carving was pure and intact. If necessary clear it. Apply special antiprigarny structure on a candle carving.
Examine spark plugs on absence of damage. In the presence of cracks in the insulator the spark plug cannot be used.
For a candle vvorachivaniye on several rounds use a piece of a rubber hose into which on the one hand insert the insulator of a candle. The hose works as the universal hinge to combine a candle with a carving opening. If the candle is rolled with a distortion, then the hose will be turned on the insulator of a candle without damage of a carving. Screw a candle on several rounds of a carving, remove a hose, then screw and tighten a candle a wrench.
For an inhaling of a spark plug use a dynamometer key. In the absence of a dynamometer key tighten a spark plug no more than on 1/4 turns from a point when the washer of a spark plug contacts with the surface of consolidation.
Before connection of a high-voltage wire to a spark plug check its state.
Turning, connect a tip of a high-voltage wire to a new spark plug, it has to be recorded reliably on a spark plug. Make sure that the wire passes at some distance from a final collector.
Similarly replace other spark plugs, replacing them on one not to mix high-voltage wires.

Check and replacement of high-voltage wires of spark plugs, cover and rotor of the distributor of ignition
High-voltage wires it is necessary to check every time at installation of spark plugs. Begin visual check at the working engine. In the darkened garage launch the engine and watch each wire. If the internal rupture of a wire is found, the electric arch or a spark in the place of damage will be visible. In the presence of an electric arch replace a wire.
Let and cool the engine then check a cover and a rotor of the distributor of ignition.
Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the rechargeable battery.
Not to mix, on one remove and examine high-voltage wires.
Having pulled up and at the same time turning, remove a tip with a high-voltage wire from a spark plug.
Do not remove a tip, having pulled directly for a high-voltage wire.
Check a tip inside for lack of traces of corrosion which represents white solid powder.
Establish into place a tip with a high-voltage wire, pressing it and at the same time turning, before accurate fixing.
Wipe with pure rags a high-voltage wire on all length, having cleared it of dirt and lubricant. Check a wire for lack of prozhog, cracks and other damages. Do not bend strongly a wire as the internal conductor can break. Measure by an ohmmeter resistance of the central conductor in each wire. Nominal resistance is 16 kOhm/m.
Check a protective cover for lack of traces of corrosion inside. Repeatedly connect a high-voltage wire.
Similarly check a condition of other high-voltage wires.
Turn out screws and uncover the ignition distributor. From within check a cover for lack of cracks, coal paths, prozhog and unreliable contacts.
Turn out two screws and remove an ignition distributor rotor. Check a rotor for lack of cracks, coal paths, an obgoraniye of side and central electrodes.
In the presence of any damages replace a cover and a rotor of the distributor of ignition. It is recommended to replace when replacing high-voltage wires also a cover and a rotor of the distributor of ignition.
Check the centrifugal regulator of an advancing of ignition for absence of damage, corrosion and the damaged springs. Holding an ignition distributor shaft, turn the case of the centrifugal regulator and be convinced that small weights of the regulator move smoothly, and the tension of springs occurs in an opposite direction.
Establish an ignition distributor cover, then connect a wire to the negative plug of the rechargeable battery.

PREVENTION
It is important to replace wires on one and to mark their places of accession as each wire provides the correct operating procedure of cylinders.
