4.3. Removal and installation of a gear belt / installation of phases of gas distribution of the RF-N engine

Installation of phases of gas distribution has to be carried out after repair work at which the gear belt was removed or the engine understood. When checking installation of phases of gas distribution it is necessary to execute all operations, except replacement of a gear belt.

Removal
Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the rechargeable battery.

PREVENTION
At a wire detachment from the negative plug of the rechargeable battery memory of electronic memory devices, for example a radio receiver code is erased.

Lift the car and remove the right forward wheel.
Remove the lower casing of the engine in the right wheel niche.

Take off maple a belt (fig. 4.12).
Install the piston of the first cylinder in VMT in a compression step. For this purpose turn

bent shaft of the engine before combination of a tag on a pulley of a bent shaft with a tag on a forward cover of the block of cylinders (fig. 4.13).
Record a bent shaft of the engine from a provorachivaniye and turn off bolts of fastening of a belt pulley of a bent shaft.
For blocking of the engine include the 5th transfer, and the assistant has to press a brake pedal.
Remove a pulley of a bent shaft.
Turn out bolts and remove the right and left casings of a gear belt.
Remove an engine support.
Turn out glow plugs. For a provorachivaniye of a bent shaft of the engine tighten the parking brake and install the transmission lever in neutral situation. By means of a neck and a head turn a bent shaft from the right wheel niche.

PREVENTION
Do not turn a bent shaft for a camshaft pulley via the belt drive at all.

Mark with chalk, a marker or paint the direction of rotation of a gear belt. If at installation the gear belt rotates in other party, it will collapse. Pulleys of the engine rotate clockwise.

Weaken a bolt of fastening of a tension roller and take away a tension roller from a gear belt (fig. 4.14). After weakening of a tension of a gear belt tighten a bolt of fastening of a tension roller again.
Turn off bypass a roller.
Take off a gear belt. After removal of a gear belt do not turn pulleys.

PREVENTIONS
Before removal of a gear belt double-check whether the tag on a pulley raspredelitelno coincides with edge of a head of the block of cylinders in bulk, and if necessary modify the provision of pulleys.
If it is necessary to turn the camshaft at the taken-off gear belt, any piston should not be in VMT, otherwise pistons and valves can be seriously damaged.

If it is necessary to turn the camshaft, previously install all pistons in the middle of their course. For this purpose put with chalk a tag from above on a pulley of a bent shaft, at the same time the bent shaft has to be in the provision of VMT of the first cylinder, then turn a pulley of a bent shaft on 1/4 turns (90 °) to the left or to the right. Now the tag has to be directed respectively to the left or to the right.

PREVENTION
Do not bend and do not turn a gear belt. Surely replace the polluted, damaged or worn-out belts. Check uniformity and ease of rotation of a tension roller.

Installation
Make sure that the tag on a pulley of a bent shaft coincides with a tag on a forward cover of the block of cylinders, and a tag on a camshaft pulley – with a tag on a back casing of a gear belt. If necessary turn pulleys before combination of all tags.
Establish a gear belt on pulleys. Lay an old belt according to earlier put arrow designating the direction of rotation of a belt.
Establish bypass a roller and fix by a bolt, having tightened its moment 50 N • m.

PREVENTION
Make sure that the belt well covers pulleys and does not sag.

Adjustment of a tension of a belt
Weaken a bolt of fastening of a tension roller so that the roller could move to a gear belt under effort of a spring. Turn a bent shaft on two turns clockwise before combination of a tag of the camshaft with a tag on a back casing of a gear belt. Be once again convinced that all tags coincide.
Tighten a bolt of fastening of a tension roller the moment of 50 N • m.
Turn a bent shaft on two turns in the direction of rotation of the engine and double-check combination of tags.

The branch of a gear belt between pulleys of the fuel pump of high pressure and the camshaft has to cave in on 9,0–11,0 mm when pressing a belt by effort of 10 kgfs (strong pressing by a finger) (fig. 4.15). Otherwise weaken a bolt of fastening of a tension roller and once again adjust a belt tension.
Establish and fix by bolts the right and left casings of a gear belt, having tightened bolts the moment of 10 N • m.

Establish the top support of the engine and tighten a bolt the moment of 115 N • m and a nut the moment of 90 N • m (fig. 4.16).
Block a bent shaft of the engine from a provorachivaniye, screw bolts of fastening of a belt pulley of a bent shaft and tighten their moment 30 N • m. For blocking of the engine include the 5th transfer, and the assistant has to press a brake pedal.
Screw glow plugs.
Establish and pull maple a belt.
Establish a casing in the right wheel niche.
Connect a wire to the negative plug of the rechargeable battery.
If there are hours, determine time and enter a security code of the radio receiver.
