5.5. Radiator fan
Removal and installation
For simplification of access remove the distributor of ignition and the soaking-up branch pipe of the air filter.
Disconnect the contact socket from an electric motor thermoswitch.
Merge liquid from the cooling system to the level corresponding to bottom edge of the top hose of a radiator. For this purpose turn out the drain stopper located in the lower part of a radiator.
Weaken a collar and remove the top hose of a radiator.
Turn out bolts and remove the fan electric motor assembled with the directing casing.
Installation is carried out to the sequences, the return to removal, taking into account the following.
Add antifreeze in the cooling system, connect a wire to the negative plug of the rechargeable battery and check turning on of the fan at warming up of the engine.
Check and repair of the fan of a radiator
Fig. 5.4. Scheme of turning on of the fan of a radiator: And – the electric motor; In – the contact socket; With – the intermediate relay; D – thermoswitch; Е – ignition switch
The fan of the cooling system consists of the electric motor and the krylchatka fixed on the directing casing which is screwed by bolts on a radiator; the relay of turning on of the fan fixed on the left internal mudguard and the thermoswitch screwed in the case of the thermostat (fig. 5.4).
At temperature increase to threshold value (97 °C) contacts of a thermoswitch are disconnected and via the intermediate relay turn on the fan electric motor. At reduction of temperature to 90 °C contacts of a thermoswitch become isolated and the electric motor is switched-off. Contacts of the relay are normally closed, i.e. for shutdown of the electric motor through a winding of the intermediate relay current has to proceed.
