8.8. System of indication of economy mode of the movement

Some models with the mechanical transmission are equipped with system of indication of economy mode of the movement. Two control lamps are provided in a combination of devices, being verified with which the driver or switches to an overgear, or covers a little a butterfly valve therefore fuel consumption decreases.
Light indication does not work at the 5th (highest) transfer and at sharp braking as the engine. On the models produced in 1984 and later light indication works at all transfers, except back.

Besides light indicators, the main components of system are: the control unit located under the panel of switches or the dashboard; the switch with the vacuum drive connected to the soaking-up branch pipe through a damper (the delay valve); the sensor of inclusion of the 5th transfer installed on the transmission; the switch of the economizer of compulsory idling installed on the carburetor (fig. 8.7).
The control unit and the switch of the economizer of compulsory idling are combined with an obednitel of fuel-air mix at the movement on neutral transfer.
On the control unit signals from the sensor and switches, tension from the power supply unit and signals from the ignition coil arrive. The signal from the coil of ignition provides tracking with the control unit of frequency of rotation of a bent shaft.

Check of technical condition
Control lamp of inclusion of an overgear
Launch the engine and transfer to an operating mode idling.
Smoothly increase the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft of the engine and be convinced that the control lamp of inclusion of an overgear joins with a frequency of rotation of 2800 min.-1 and remains the rotation frequency included at further increase.

Disconnect the contact socket from the sensor of inclusion of the 5th transfer (it is located near the rechargeable battery) and repeat check (fig. 8.8). The control lamp should not light up. Connect the socket.
Control lamp of excessive opening of a butterfly valve
This check will require the vacuum pump and the vacuum gage.

Disconnect a vacuum hose from the switch and instead of it attach the vacuum pump and the vacuum gage (fig. 8.9). Include ignition. Observation of a control lamp during increase in depression in the switch will require the assistant. The control lamp has to light up at depression from 0 to 120 mm of mercury. and to go out at increase in depression.

On release models till 1984 disconnect the contact socket from the sensor of inclusion of the 5th transfer and repeat check (fig. 8.10). The control lamp should not light up. Connect the contact socket and a vacuum hose to the sensor of inclusion of the 5th transfer.

Replacement of knots
Control lamps and indexes
Remove glass of a combination of devices and replace a control lamp.
Vacuum switch
Remove a vacuum hose and disconnect the socket from the switch. Remove the switch from an arm on a car body.
Install the new switch, connect a hose and the contact socket.
Sensor of inclusion of the 5th transfer
Determine location of the sensor of inclusion of the 5th transfer by the course of a wire and disconnect the contact socket from the sensor.
Turn out the sensor from the transmission. Keep in mind that in this case oil can spill.
Install the new sensor, connect the socket, then check oil level in the transmission.
Control unit
Access to the control unit is possible after removal of the lower decorative overlay of the dashboard, the panel of switches or a combination of devices.
